History of Color in Medical Scrubs ![]() Not so long ago, there were only two color choices available for medical scrubs uniforms. Blue and green. Medical scrubs in any other colors were unseen and unheard of. Times have certainly changed! In the late 1980’s, other colors became more available and more accepted in the Operating Rooms of hospitals, in clinics and in physicians’ offices across America. That led to an explosion of color and choices in medical scrubs in all realms of health care. Nurses, dentists and veteranarians soon took up the crusade to stamp out boring blue and green scrubs and added color and individuality in their place. The new wave of scrub colors soon jumped the oceans to spread throughout the world. Today, medical scrubs options abound in colorful prints to offer versatility and personalization never before available to health care professionals and are accepted in many other industries as well. Dentists and Veterinarians and are now wearing the scrubs of the medical professional, due to the comfort provided by the uniforms themselves, and the instant rapport which is built between doctor and patient, or nurse and patient through the use of color and print. With an eye toward fashion, health care providers can now choose their medical scrubs from the "in" colors for every season. Maintaining personal professionalism, while feeling comfortable and fashionable, is now an easily attainable goal. Fashion, color and comfort now combine in medical scrubs uniforms geared for today’s health care professionals. Thankfully, times have certainly changed. Comments
