Sassy Scrubs on New CBS Show Local manufacturer and internet retailer, Sassy Scrubs, has once again been requested to provide their custom made scrub uniforms for a national television program. The Penn Yan company, found at www.sassyscrubs.com, was contacted in March by a frantic costume director in search of Lab Coats for a pilot being produced for CBS, now on the air as “3 lbs.” Costume Director, Jessica Fasman, working on a project starring Stanley Tucci and Mark Feuerstein, needed to have Caribbean Teal Lab Coats mailed overnight to Los Angeles for the pilot being filmed the next day. She chose Sassy Scrubs after an exhaustive search for Lab Coats in this unusual color turned up Sassy Scrubs as the only option. Sassy Scrubs President, Karen Bradley, remembers that “We received Jessica’s order of 12 Lab Coats at 11:30 Friday morning with her note that she needed the Coats by Saturday.” Bradley knew it would be a difficult task to complete this order before the shop closed at 3:30. “Our Fabric Cutters and Seamstresses dropped what they were doing and worked together to get as many of the Lab Coats completed as possible”, states Bradley. Jessica was contacted by Jody Earle, the company’s Marketing and IT Manager, to let her know that she could expect 5 Caribbean Teal Lab Coats to be received in the morning. “She was just thrilled that we had saved her at the last minute and was very appreciative of our Customer Service”, states Earle. This number of Lab Coats, in different sizes, would allow them to complete the filming of the pilot over the weekend, and the remainder would be used in future episodes. The Costume Director was “relieved to be saved from the fire and said she would keep us in mind for any further medical shows she works with” says Bradley. Sassy Scrubs gained international fame in the mid-1990’s when their scrubs were worn on the television program “ER”. The company’s unique holiday and novelty fabrics brought color and interest to the scrubs worn on the show and the surgical caps provided by Sassy Scrubs were worn for years thereafter on the program.
The company’s newest brush with Hollywood has been exciting for the Penn Yan manufacturer. Karen Bradley explains, “We knew this was a pilot being produced, so we kept watching to see if the show would be featured by the network. We were ecstatic when we found out it was airing in November.” The drama “3 lbs.” is aptly named since the show features neurosurgeons, played by Tucci and Feuerstein, and three pounds is the weight of the human brain. Viewers can watch for Sassy Scrubs’ custom made Lab Coats on CBS on Tuesday nights. And you can watch out for Sassy Scrubs. They’re ready for the next call from Hollywood. |
